Tense describe the action of the subject performed in a time frame; it may be present, past or future.

On the basis of time frame, there are three types of Tenses:
Present, Past and Future. They have four sub-types –
1. Indefinite
2. Continuous
3. Perfect
4. Perfect continuous.

Before we start with the study of each of the tense in detail, we must first know about Helping/ Auxilliary verbs used in Present, Past and Future tense.

TenseHelping Verb used
Presentdo, does, is, am, are, has, have, has been, have been.
Pastdid, was, were, had, had been
Futurewill, will be, will have, will have been
